The curriculum design of Theory of Machines and Mechanism is the first more comprehensive one with practical content and significance in university period that the engineering students use the learned knowledge and computer to complete. And it is also an important practical teaching link of Theory of Machines and Mechanism. The curriculum design is the bridge of transforming knowledge into ability. And its main purpose is to make further efforts to consolidate, deepen and systemize what the student have learned; to develop the students' ability to use the knowledge to solve practical problems independently and preliminary culture students' innovation design; to enable the students to master the design method of the motion scheme of mechanical system; and to conduct a comprehensive training in the mechanism analysis and synthesis.

For a simple mechanical system, students are required to design it’s motion scheme satisfying the motion requirements,  and carries on the design and analysis of more than two major mechanisms. Through the curriculum design to the students’ design ability for the  motion schemes of mechanical system, the students’ analysis and computing ability using the engineering software, and the students’ ability of composing design specification all will be improved.

 Each student will be required to generate a A2 drawings (including the sketch on the motion scheme of mechanical system and mechanical motion cycle chart), complete size design and motion analysis of more than two major mechanisms, write a design specification, finally defend.
